Setting up a home network for two or more computers is certainly feasible, and has the advantages that you can then share your broadband internet connection and printers; and can also share files such as music, photos and videos or movies.

What's more a network affords an important further advantage: you can copy important files to another computer as a backup, to guard against hard disk failure, the most critical vulnerability. And if you've also installed your key programs on the other computer, it  means that your also protected against total failure of the computer itself.

A wired network is the most reliable type, but the most recent technological advances in wireless ("WIFI") networking can result in quite acceptable levels of signal strength and reliability.
