My name is Robin Beck and I first learnt about computers when I turned up for a programming course at the Goodge Street training centre in London of the then largest British computer manufacturer, International Computers Limited (ICL), on the 3rd January 1971.
That's over 35 years ago, and I have been involved with computers directly and indirectly ever since. In 1988 I left full-time employment and set up as a self-employed Management and Computer Consultant. I worked on assignments for a number of major companies, including many FTSE 100 and global corporations. Some assignments were based overseas, such as Oslo, Lisbon, Toronto and various locations in the USA.
In 2002 I re-married having been a widower since 1993, and set up home in Piddington, a village 5 miles South of Northampton on the Newport Pagnell Road. The idea for my current business was born on the day following my wedding in August 2002, and I immediately set about planning and establishing PC-FirstAid.com Ltd.
By the way I regret to say that Apple Mac computers are outside my capabilities.
PC-FirstAid.com Ltd has the following key business rules:

We will try ensure that all clients spend as little as possible

What they do spend must represent value for money.

All goods obtained and services provided must be fit for purpose.

Our profits will derive from fees only, and not from any goods or services procured on a client's behalf.

We will seek to establish long-term client relationships, based upon credibility and quality of service.

All fixed-fee projects will be supported with a three-month warranty in respect of problems that may arise directly related to work we have carried out.

Our clients' best interests are our best interests.

There will be no charge for unsuccessful jobs: no-fix-no-fee.
Although the slogan above says "Your Local Home PC Paramedic Service", a number of small businesses are among my most frequent clients.
My first client contacted me in October 2002, and since then I have mustered a client base of around 700 mainly in the South Northants and adjoining areas. Initially I worked out of a spare bedroom, but once the business grew, so did my need for space. So in the Summer of 2005 a purpose-built garden office (shown left; click on the image to see a larger version in a new window) was erected that has allowed me to handle workflows more efficiently. It has also enabled me to offer a wider range of services, as detailed in the Services section of this web site.
